Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni has reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector in collaboration with counties.
Speaking during a public forum in Embu, Muthoni cited the ongoing nationwide rollout of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) as a key step in advancing primary healthcare and bringing essential services closer to households.
She said the initiative is part of the broader Universal Health Coverage agenda, ensuring that Kenyans have access to affordable and quality healthcare at the grassroots.
“The rollout of Community Health Promoters is a game-changer. We are ensuring that every household is reached, and that access to healthcare is no longer a privilege but a right for every Kenyan,” Muthoni said.
The PS noted that the government is also working with counties to improve staffing in hospitals, restock essential medicines, and upgrade facilities to ensure efficiency and quality service delivery.
