30,000 of Kenyan Families Benefit from Bamburi Food Drive During Ramadhan

Bamburi Cement Plc has greatly enlarged its yearly Ramadhan Food Drive, extending the program to assist around 4,000 at-risk families in Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Machakos, and Nairobi counties, impacting at least 30,000 individuals.
The food drive, now in its second year, has evolved into a significant community resource during the Holy Month.
In the course of the drive, Tawakal Rajab Sumba, the Country Representative of Amsons Group, stated, “This initiative is based on compassion and inclusivity.” By extending our outreach to 30,000 people and branching into regions like Matuga, we are strengthening our collaboration with communities and affirming our enduring dedication to social impact.
For thousands of Muslim believers, the daily Iftar meal represents a spiritual and communal experience while fasting from dawn until dusk.
For numerous low-income families, the issue of securing meals has become more pressing. Aiming for 4,000 families, equivalent to almost 30,000 people, the 2026 initiative intends to help more families break their fast with certainty instead of apprehension.
This year’s initiative has broadened its reach by providing food assistance to Kenya Prisons facilities, orphanages, and children’s homes, where food insecurity silently undermines their wellbeing.
The program, which was formally inaugurated at Afra Hall in Mombasa Town, marked the beginning of organized food distributions during the fasting duration. Deliveries consist of vital food items intended to support families during the sacred month.
Inaugurated in 2025 after the Amsons Group’s purchase of the company, the Ramadhan Food Drive has transformed into a key corporate social responsibility initiative.
Beyond figures, it signifies a purposeful move towards organized, ongoing community assistance in areas where Bamburi Cement functions.
