CFAO Mobility Kenya has unveiled a KES 48.5 million sponsorship and development package for the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally, strengthening its six-year investment in Kenyan motorsport, now exceeding KES 153 million.
Speaking at the official handover, Arvinder Reel, Managing Director of CFAO Mobility Kenya, said:
“Our support goes beyond sponsorship. We are nurturing young talent, advancing motorsport technology, and showcasing Kenya on the global rally stage.”
Building Talent and Technology
The company donated two FIA-approved Toyota Starlet rally cars, developed with Kenyan engineers at a cost of KES 34.5 million, to the Safari Rally Training School Project. The handover to the President of Kenya at State House highlights national commitment to motorsport development.
For grassroots talent, CFAO introduced a prototype Cross Car for drivers aged 12–17, built to FIA standards at KES 3.7 million. This initiative creates a structured pathway for young rally drivers, combining training, curriculum development in partnership with South Africa’s Botterill Motor Sport, and hands-on racing experience.
“Training camps and the curriculum handover to the Safari Rally Secretariat ensure this programme continues beyond the rally,” Reel added.
Global Stars Meet Kenyan Fans
The initiative featured Toyota Gazoo Racing Team drivers, alongside WRC leaders Elfyn Evans, Samo Pajari, 24-year-old rising Kenyan talent, and legendary Juha Kankkunen, 1985 Safari Rally winner. Fans experienced a unique meet-and-greet, highlighting Kenya’s growing global motorsport presence.
Principal Secretary for Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, praised CFAO Mobility Kenya:
“Their investments in rally cars, training, and Kenya’s first affordable FIA Cross Car are critical for developing local talent and technical capacity.”
A Proven Platform: Toyota Hilux
The Toyota Hilux continues to serve as the “double zero” and “triple zero” opening cars, showcasing quality, durability, and reliability, reinforcing Kenya’s ability to host world-class rally events.
Through strategic investment in sponsorship, technology, and youth development, CFAO Mobility Kenya is cultivating local talent, advancing engineering excellence, and ensuring Kenya maintains a strong presence on the global rally stage.
