Woodford Reserve Officially Launches in Kenya, Ushering In Old Fashioned Month

Woodford Reserve®, the world’s top-selling super-premium American whiskey*, together with the Old Fashioned—one of the world’s most iconic classic cocktails—hosted the Nairobi edition of the annual Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Month at the Trademark Hotel on November 6th, marking the official entry of Woodford Reserve into the Kenyan market.

Consumers and hospitality guests were invited to celebrate this legendary cocktail as the event—held simultaneously in 20 markets worldwide—marked its 10th anniversary since its first edition in Paris in 2015.

“Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Month has been curated to appeal to the discerning taste of the whiskey connoisseur. Guests have the opportunity to experience an iconic cocktail that remains popular across the globe,” said David Mutunga, Brown-Forman’s East Africa Advocacy Lead. Brown-Forman is the local distributor for Woodford Reserve®.

“This event enhances our key objective to boost Woodford Reserve’s brand visibility and provide our target market with a diverse product they can enjoy responsibly,” Mutunga added.

Woodford Reserve continues to encourage consumers to craft their own Old Fashioned at home, using the traditional three simple ingredients: bourbon, sugar, and bitters.

Both Woodford Reserve and the Old Fashioned trace their origins to Kentucky. Cocktail historians generally agree that the drink’s name was first used at the Pendennis Club in Louisville. It was later popularized by Col. James E. Pepper in 1881 when it was introduced to high society at the Waldorf Astoria New York. Today, it stands as the world’s top classic cocktail.
