Jetour Kenya has officially entered the local automotive market with the launch of four new sport utility vehicles, introduced during a high-energy showcase held on Friday evening at EKA Hotel, Nairobi. The models unveiled were the Jetour T2, Jetour Dashing, Jetour X70 Plus, and Jetour T1, marking a notable push by the brand to position itself within Kenya’s growing SUV segment.
The launch was hosted by Global Motors Centre Limited, which represents Jetour in Kenya. Executive Managing Director Ali Zubedi said the company plans to assemble the vehicles locally, noting that the investment is expected to support job creation and contribute to the expansion of Kenya’s automotive manufacturing capacity.
“Jetour is not just about cars; it’s about empowering people and enabling progress,” he said. “As we assemble locally, we are building opportunities for Kenyans and contributing to the growth of our local manufacturing ecosystem. Our goal is to make world-class SUVs accessible to every Kenyan household.”
Jetour’s entry comes at a time when Kenya’s automobile market is seeing increased interest in mid-range SUVs, driven by demand for vehicles that can withstand varied terrain while remaining fuel-efficient and comfortable enough for everyday use. The company says the four models unveiled are adapted for both urban driving and off-road conditions.
The Jetour T2, the flagship of the lineup, is designed for off-road capability, featuring BorgWarner 4WD technology and a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. The model includes a reinforced frame, leather interior, large-format touch display, and driver-assistance technologies.
The Jetour Dashing targets urban drivers with a lower engine capacity, aerodynamic design, and a digital cockpit interface. The X70 Plus, a seven-seater, is aimed at families seeking interior space and connectivity features such as smartphone integration. Meanwhile, the compact Jetour T1 is geared toward first-time buyers and city-based motorists seeking smaller vehicles with elevated ground clearance.
Speaking during the event, Jetour Kenya Managing Director Farooq Sheikh said the brand is positioning itself around technology, design, and local support networks. “We are committed to redefining mobility in Kenya by offering vehicles that combine advanced technology, reliability, and elegance, while supporting local assembly, job creation, and skill development,” he said.
Vice President of Jetour International, Andy Yuan, noted that Kenya is a key part of the company’s wider expansion strategy in Africa, citing the country’s economic growth and youthful consumer base.
“Kenya is a strategic market for Jetour in Africa,” he said. “We see immense potential in its vibrant economy and young population. Our goal is to bring internationally recognised automotive standards closer to local consumers while supporting national goals on industrialization and green mobility.”
Industry analysts say Jetour will now compete directly with brands such as Haval, Changan, Proton, and Toyota in the mid-range SUV category, where pricing, after-sales support, and fuel efficiency often determine customer loyalty.
Jetour Kenya said the new models will be supported by a nationwide dealership and service network, with pricing to be announced in phases as sales roll out in the coming weeks.
