The Kenya Diaspora Alliance (KDA), through its subsidiary Kenya Diaspora Alliance Welfare Association (KWA), in partnership with Jubilee Health Insurance, BUPA Global, and Kenbright Insurance Brokers, has launched the Diaspora Medical Insurance Cover — a comprehensive health insurance solution designed for Kenyans living abroad and their families both in Kenya and overseas.
This landmark initiative builds on the success of the KWA Group Last Expense (GLE) Cover launched three years ago, which has enabled Kenyans worldwide to access dignified and financially supported end-of-life arrangements. The new Diaspora Medical Cover responds to a long-standing need within the diaspora community for reliable, accessible, and sustainable healthcare protection.
Addressing a Real Community Need
For years, Kenyans abroad and their families have faced the emotional and financial strain of managing medical emergencies back home. Repeated fundraising appeals have underscored the urgent need for a dependable, structured healthcare solution.
“This new medical cover is a direct response to what our diaspora members asked for — a trusted system that ensures access to healthcare for their families back home, as well as for themselves wherever they are in the world, without emotional or financial distress,” said Dr. Shem Ochuodho, Global Chair of the Kenya Diaspora Alliance.
A Partnership That Connects Families Across Borders
Speaking during the launch, Ms. Njeri Jomo, Chief Executive Officer, Jubilee Health Insurance, emphasized the significance of health solutions that connect families across borders.
“This partnership is a celebration of connection — of families, cultures, and care that transcend geography. At Jubilee Health, we understand the diversity of the Kenyan diaspora: parents supporting children back home, sons and daughters ensuring their aging parents receive the care they deserve, and extended families relying on one another,” she said.
“As the local insurance partner, our role is to make that care possible — to provide trusted, seamless healthcare access for your loved ones wherever they are in Kenya. Whether it’s a simple clinic visit or specialist treatment, we stand ready to serve every generation of your family.”
Mr. Uditha Jayaratne, CEO and Principal Officer, BUPA Global Kenya, reaffirmed BUPA’s commitment to simplifying access to global healthcare.
“At BUPA Global, we understand that health needs don’t stop at borders. Through this partnership, Kenyans living abroad can access care within our network of over 2.4 million healthcare providers worldwide, including leading hospitals and specialists.
We are proud to be the only internationally licensed medical provider in Kenya, supporting Kenyans both at home and abroad. This collaboration reinforces our purpose of helping people live longer, healthier, and happier lives — making the world a better place for all.”
