Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Wairimu Muhia has underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening the bond between citizens and leadership through inclusive public engagement forums.
Speaking at Kahunguini Primary School Grounds in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, during a Jamii Imara Mashinani outreach, Dr. Muhia said the initiative represents a government that listens, responds, and walks with the people.
“The heart of good governance is listening,” she said. “When we engage the public directly, we make government more accountable, accessible, and effective. This is the Kenya Kwanza way — leadership that serves, not rules.”
The PS reaffirmed her ministry’s commitment to improving correctional services by focusing on rehabilitation, vocational training, and community reintegration programs for reformed offenders.

“We are transforming prisons into centers of skill-building and restoration,” she explained. “Our goal is to empower those who pass through the system to become productive members of society.”
Dr. Muhia also urged citizens to continue supporting the government’s programs, saying national progress can only be achieved through unity and shared responsibility.
“Development is a collective effort,” she added. “We need every Kenyan on board to make our country safer, stronger, and more prosperous.”
She was joined by Energy PS Alex Wachira, Sports PS Elijah Mwangi, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, and Gatundu North MP GG Kagombe, who all emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement in achieving Kenya’s bottom-up transformation agenda.
