KASALU TRANSFORMS KATAMA SCHOOL WITH MASSIVE DONATION

Kitui County Woman Representative Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu has donated 240 iron sheets, 50 lockers, and 50 desks to Katama Comprehensive Schools in Mumoni Ward, Mwingi North Constituency.

The donation seeks to uplift learning conditions and ease infrastructure challenges at the school, which has long struggled with overcrowded classrooms and limited furniture.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dr. Kasalu reaffirmed her dedication to promoting quality education in Kitui. “Every child deserves a safe and supportive learning space. These materials will bring change to both students and teachers,” she said.

Community members, local leaders, parents, and pupils warmly welcomed the donation, calling it timely and impactful in boosting morale and performance.

Mr. Patrick Mbatha, the school headteacher, said the school has suffered for years due to inadequate facilities. “These desks and lockers will ease congestion, and the iron sheets will help us complete more classrooms,” he said.

Dr. Kasalu noted that the donation is part of her broader education empowerment initiative, aimed at closing the learning gap in rural and marginalised parts of Kitui County.

The school’s Board of Management confirmed that the iron sheets will go toward roofing new classrooms and repairing those damaged by weather and age.

Parents praised Dr. Kasalu for listening to their concerns and responding with action. “She walks with the people. She understands our children’s needs,” said Mary Kavutha, a parent at the school.

This gesture adds to the growing list of education-centered projects spearheaded by Dr. Kasalu, who has consistently championed infrastructure support, bursaries, and mentorship programs.

Residents described her as a transformative and accessible leader who delivers real development and not just promises.

As she concluded her visit, Dr. Kasalu encouraged teachers and students to remain focused. “We are building not just classrooms but a future. Let’s raise a generation of achievers right here in Mumoni,” she stated.
