Kindiki to Critics: No Shortcuts to Power, Wait for 2027

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has cautioned political critics and opponents of the Kenya Kwanza administration against seeking alternative means to power, urging them to wait for the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during the Economic Empowerment for Women Forum at Kipkeikei in Cherang’any Constituency, Trans Nzoia County, Kindiki warned that the government will not tolerate attempts to destabilize the country under the guise of political freedoms.

“If you want to challenge us, wait for the elections,” he said.
“Those looking for shortcuts to power should know this country cannot be allowed to degenerate like some of our neighbors. President Ruto and this administration will not permit chaos and anarchy in the name of liberties or shortcuts by power-hungry politicians who are too impatient to wait.”

Kindiki welcomed the High Court’s dismissal of a petition challenging the appointment of the new IEBC commissioners, and urged the commission to begin preparations for the 2027 elections without delay.

“The court case had put us in a difficult position. Now that the commission is fully constituted, it should begin preparations for the 2027 elections. This will help us underwrite our democracy,” he stated.

He further stressed the importance of upholding and respecting independent institutions like the Judiciary and IEBC, reiterating that leadership should only be pursued through constitutional means.
