In a surprising move, President William Ruto dismissed the entire Cabinet, paving the way for a “broad-based Government.” The announcement followed an extensive appraisal of the Cabinet’s performance. Here are the reactions from the outgoing Cabinet Secretaries:
Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport)
“It has been my greatest privilege and honor to serve my country as a Cabinet Secretary in charge of Roads & Transport. Thank you, Mr. President, for giving me the opportunity. God bless you and God bless Kenya.”
CS Rebecca Miano (Trade)

Mithika Linturi (Agriculture)
“I’m profoundly thankful to H.E. President William Ruto for the trust and confidence he placed in me by appointing me as the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development. Your decision to entrust me with this significant responsibility is both a privilege and a humbling experience. I’m pleased with the achievements we’ve made so far in the agricultural sector since my appointment. Some key achievements include accelerated registration of farmers through the e-voucher digital platform, successful delivery of subsidized fertilizer, and significant increases in tea and meat exports. I thank all Kenyans and stakeholders in the agricultural sector for their support during my tenure. God bless Kenya.”
Alfred Mutua (Tourism & Wildlife).
“I sincerely thank His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto for the confidence he demonstrated by entrusting me with the role of Cabinet Secretary in his government. During my tenure, I have witnessed firsthand President Ruto’s genuine commitment to the rapid transformation of our country. His vision and dedication to progress are clear and unwavering. As a leader with considerable experience, I understand the necessity behind the President’s decision to dismiss all members of his cabinet. Thank you once again, Mr. President, for the opportunity to serve you and the people of Kenya. May the Almighty continue to guide you in the challenging task of revitalizing our nation. Mbele iko Sawa.”
Eliud Owalo (ICT)
“I thank H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto for granting me the opportunity to serve my Country as Cabinet Secretary. I owe him a great debt of gratitude for the same.”

“This is to convey my sincere gratitude to H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, the President of The Republic of Kenya and Commander-In-Chief of Kenya Defence forces, for the opportunity and privilege you granted me to serve as the Cabinet Secretary, Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development and previously as Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation. During my period of service, you gave me support in the execution of my duties, and I will forever remain grateful. You can count on my continued support as our nation requires all hands and energies to build a stronger and resilient Kenya.”
Susan Nakhumicha (Health)
“I am grateful to H.E. The President for giving me the opportunity to lead the rollout of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), one of the Government’s flagship programmes. It has been a busy 21 months where we initiated far-reaching reforms in the health sector to lay a firm foundation for the realization of UHC. Proud of the Ministry of Health team, development partners, and the legislature that passed the bills. Thanks to the health workers for their support, and my heart goes out to Community Health Promoters who made our mantra ‘Afya Nyumbani.’ To those I didn’t meet your expectations, I take it that life is a learning experience. Ahsanteni.”
President Ruto emphasized the need for fresh leadership to implement radical programmes addressing corruption, debt, domestic resources, jobs, and government wastage. He highlighted the government’s achievements over the past 22 months, including increasing food production, stabilizing the economy, implementing education sector changes, resolving cash transfer bottlenecks, rolling out the Hustler Fund, and expanding manufacturing and digital transformation agendas.
The President assured that government operations would continue uninterrupted under the guidance of Principal Secretaries and other officials. The offices of the Deputy President, Prime Cabinet Secretary, and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs remain unaffected.
As Kenya looks forward to a new phase, the former Cabinet Secretaries expressed their gratitude and support for the President’s vision for the nation’s transformation.
