Webuye West Member of Parliament Dan Wanyama has urged President William Ruto to redirect his attention to the Western Kenya region, citing increasing discontent in the Mt. Kenya area.
Speaking on Sunday at the Interdenominational Prayers held at Cheptais Boys’ High School in Bungoma County, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) legislator suggested that the President should abandon the challenging political terrain in Mt. Kenya and focus on the more stable Mt. Elgon region in the West.
Wanyama argued that the recent merger between Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ruto’s UDA would serve as a lesson to the Mt. Kenya region, which he accused of ongoing entitlement.
He believes that securing the Western region’s support could be crucial for Ruto’s re-election prospects, even without the backing of Mt. Kenya.
The MP also criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta for his recent comments urging younger generations to continue fighting for their rights, suggesting that Kenyatta is attempting to undermine Ruto’s administration.
