Former NITA Director General Paul Kipsang Kosgei Arraigned in Court

Former Director General of the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), Paul Kipsang Kosgei, faced charges of abuse of office in connection with a tender scam case at the Milimani Anti-Corruption court.

It was alleged that Kosgei conferred a benefit of Ksh.5,388,410.69 to Xponics Limited by authorizing payments for the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, training, service, maintenance, and repair of sewing and training machines between January 31 and March 29, 2019.

Despite pleading not guilty, Kosgei was granted a Ksh.3 million bond or a Ksh.1 million cash bail alternative by Principal Magistrate Zipporah Gichana.

Additionally, he was required to deposit his passport and warned against interfering with witnesses.

Kosgei’s arraignment followed three days after NITA’s Director General, Stephen Ogenga, faced charges alongside Xponics Limited, James Waweru, and Sheila Wambui Nyakinyua for abuse of office and fraudulent accusation of public property.

Ogenga was accused of submitting a falsified bid to gain an unfair advantage in the tender for sewing and training machines for the 2017/18 financial year. The case is set for a pre-trial mention on June 18.
