It is about restoring dignity, hope, and opportunity to children who deserve a chance to thrive,” she said.

Mrs. Musalia emphasised that protecting children should not be viewed as the sole responsibility of the government, but rather a shared duty involving families, communities, institutions, and development partners.

The event also highlighted collaborative efforts aimed at expanding access to services for vulnerable children and nearby communities.

On Friday, Ushiriki Wema Foundation, led by Mrs. Musalia, partnered with Huduma Kenya, Equity Afya, and the Wema Centre to offer healthcare and Huduma services to children from the centre as well as residents from surrounding areas.

She described the partnership as an example of meaningful collaboration capable of delivering lasting social impact.

“At the heart of this partnership is the understanding that no single organisation can meet all the needs of vulnerable children alone. By working together, we can reach more people and serve communities more effectively,” she said.

Mrs. Musalia further expressed optimism that the partnership with Equity Afya and other stakeholders would continue to grow in ways that improve access to healthcare and social support for vulnerable children across the country.

The funds raised during the Wemathon are expected to support the establishment of the Wema Health Clinic, which organisers say will enhance access to medical care for street-connected children in Mombasa.

By Njeri Irungu.
