The council warns that the country is at a defining moment — one that demands moral courage, civic awakening, and collective action from citizens.

In its statement titled “The Hour of Reckoning Has Come — Kenyans, Stand for Justice and Transparency,” the Council accuses Kenya’s political elite of perpetuating a cycle of betrayal, greed, and state oppression for over six decades.

> “The current government has turned the nation into a theatre of deceit — where public offices are auctioned, loyalty is bought, and truth is treated as a crime,” the statement reads.

Signed by Chairperson Sebastian Onyango, Secretary Janet Sutton, and Organising Secretary Rose Nyarkasiringi, the Council’s letter paints a grim picture of a nation weighed down by excessive taxation, joblessness, failing hospitals, shuttered schools, and deepening poverty — even as leaders flaunt ill-gotten wealth.

> “Parliament has become a marketplace; governors rule like mini-monarchs; and the opposition, once the voice of the people, has sold its soul for political convenience and personal gain,” the Council declares.

Despite the disillusionment, the Justice and Equity Council insists that Kenya’s spirit of resilience and freedom remains alive. It reminds leaders that the same people who defeated colonial rule, dismantled dictatorship, and fought for multiparty democracy still possess the power to reclaim their country.

> “Kenyans are patient, not powerless,” the statement emphasizes. “The same spirit that once conquered oppression must awaken again, for our beloved nation is being weakened before our very eyes.”

Clarifying that the message is not a call to violence, the Council describes its appeal as a civic awakening — a demand for citizens to reclaim their republic through truth, unity, and accountability.

> “Our freedom will not come from aging politicians or tribal coalitions. It will come from ordinary Kenyans — workers, students, farmers, and dreamers — who refuse to be silenced or deceived,” the Council states.

The group calls for renewed civic responsibility and a rejection of divisive propaganda and systemic corruption that continue to erode public trust.

> “We must demand transparency, justice, and equality from those who claim to lead us. We must reject the lies that divide us and defend the Constitution that protects us all,” the statement continues.

Concluding with a powerful warning, the Council says Kenya cannot continue on its current path without facing consequences.

> “Kenya cannot go on like this. The hour of reckoning has come. The giant has begun to awaken — and this time, it will not go back to sleep,” the statement declares.

A UK-based civic organization, the Justice and Equity Council (UK Chapter), has issued a passionate call to action, urging…

[33,153

post-4028","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-county","category-news
["GET
