By addressing hunger in classrooms, the program seeks to enhance focus, improve attendance, and support better learning outcomes across Bridge academies in Kenya.

For many children in low-income communities, hunger remains one of the most persistent barriers to education. Pupils often arrive at school without breakfast, making it difficult to concentrate or participate fully in class. Teachers have observed that learners who receive a morning meal demonstrate improved alertness, confidence, and engagement.

The launch marks the beginning of a broader plan to roll out a sustainable, community-supported school feeding programme across Bridge academies nationwide. The Foundation’s long-term goal is to ensure that good nutrition becomes a foundation for better learning and equitable access to education.

During its first phase, the initiative targets to serve 50,000 cups of nutritious uji, with each cup costing only KSh 15 to sponsor — a small contribution with a life-changing impact on a child’s education.

“The launch of this feeding programme is all about driving lasting impact in education,” said Griffin Chesi, Managing Director, Bridge Foundation. “When a child starts the day with a nutritious cup of uji, they come to school more regularly, stay alert longer, and learn more effectively. This programme reinforces our core mission of enabling every child to reach their full learning potential. Each sponsored cup is an investment that enhances school attendance, focus, and the promise of a better future.”

The launch event brought together teachers, pupils, parents, community leaders, and partners, all united by a shared belief that good nutrition is essential for good education. “One Cup, One Future” represents a renewed commitment to eliminating hunger as a barrier to classroom participation and achievement — ensuring that every child attends school, stays engaged, and thrives academically.

Bridge International Academies Foundation is calling on corporate partners, development organizations, and individual sponsors to join the initiative and help sustain the impact.

Every contribution directly supports not just nutrition, but the foundation for improved learning and brighter futures.

To sponsor a cup:
M-Pesa Paybill: 123125
Account: Uji

For more information visit our website – www.bridge.ac.ke

Bridge International Academies Foundation has launched a new school feeding initiative dubbed “One Cup, One Future” at Bridge Academy–Kinoo in…

[33,153,15
154
post-3987","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-county","category-news","category-trends","tag-bridge-international
["GET
