{"id":3485,"date":"2025-04-01T08:17:26","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T08:17:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsroomhub.co.ke\/?p=3485"},"modified":"2025-04-01T08:17:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T08:17:26","slug":"chinese-investors-eye-kenyas-digital-sector-at-nairobi-trade-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsroomhub.co.ke\/index.php\/2025\/04\/01\/chinese-investors-eye-kenyas-digital-sector-at-nairobi-trade-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Investors Eye Kenya\u2019s Digital Sector at Nairobi Trade Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A promotional conference for the fourth Global Digital Trade Expo was held in Nairobi, bringing together senior government officials, diplomats, and business executives to explore opportunities in e-commerce and digital trade.<\/p>\n<p>The event, hosted by the Hangzhou municipal government, also highlighted the upcoming African Digital Trade Day, which will be a key feature of the expo scheduled for September 25-29 in Hangzhou, China.<\/p>\n<p>The expo, which boasts a strong global reach, is expected to attract over 100 international dignitaries and diplomats.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the conference, Zhou Zhencheng, minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, emphasized the expo\u2019s role in deepening China-Africa partnerships in digital trade and e-commerce.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17893 td-animation-stack-type0-2\" src=\"https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 865px) 100vw, 865px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image.jpg 865w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-696x471.jpg 696w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-621x420.jpg 621w\" alt=\"\" width=\"865\" height=\"585\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>He pointed out the potential for Kenya and China to collaborate in advanced technologies, particularly in telecommunications and smart cities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI welcome you all to China during the Digital workshop where you will be able to learn several ways we can partner together to promote business and grow,\u201d Zhou Zhencheng said.<\/p>\n<p>Kenya\u2019s Principal Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, John Tanui, said the expo presents an opportunity for Kenya to harness the digital economy for job creation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe digital economy has revolutionized how businesses operate. E-commerce, digital platforms, and online services have torn down the walls that once limited MSMEs, giving them unprecedented access to global markets,\u201d Tanui said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Kenya is eager to learn from China\u2019s expertise in digital trade as it seeks to expand its footprint in the sector.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17894 td-animation-stack-type0-2\" src=\"https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-1.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 865px) 100vw, 865px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-1.jpg 865w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-1-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-1-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-1-696x471.jpg 696w, https:\/\/tukio.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/image-1-621x420.jpg 621w\" alt=\"\" width=\"865\" height=\"585\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Murang\u2019a Governor Irungu Kang\u2019ata lauded China\u2019s role in bridging the digital divide in Kenya, noting that enhanced cooperation between the two nations has boosted access to modern technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Kang\u2019ata showcased Murang\u2019a County\u2019s investment potential, inviting Chinese investors to explore manufacturing, energy, and smart governance projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina has played a key role in ensuring that Kenya, and particularly Murang\u2019a, benefits from digital innovations.
